Bowl From A Board Stack Lamination

Inspired by some bowls i had seen made by michael mode a little while ago i decided to jump straight in at the deep end and make this 500mm 19 5 bowl using the surprisingly simple technique stacked ring lamination.

The configuration below was inspired by michael mode and a bowl you can see on his web site www michaelmode. Stack laminated rings make bowls with huge possibilities in colorful exotic woods. In conventional segmented ring construction many board feet of good wood goes into the trash. Many years ago at an aaw symposium mike shuler a well known woodturner from santa cruz california demonstrated making a bowl with very little waste.
