Burn marks on granite.
The granite slabs that are used to make kitchen countertops can sometimes be damaged by extremely hot pots and pans though so home owners should be careful.
Granite and darker marbles are better equipped to conceal treated burn marks since the background has a darker shade along with dense graining.
Burn marks will not go away on their own and need to be treated in order to get your countertop looking as good as new.
Granite countertops can add a upscale aesthetic element to any kitchen.
Marble surfaces are more tedious to treat since the white backdrop is very difficult for concealing a burn mark.
While granite resists heat and does not burn a hot pan or pot may leave a mark on its surface.
Apply a layer of white toothpaste to the scorch mark and allow it to set for several minutes.
Begin by using the soft cloth and mild soap to remove any discoloration from the surface.
Scrub the area lightly with either a scrub brush or toothbrush.
Gently rub the affected area with the sandpaper using an even circular motion.
Repeated exposure to high heat can eventually leave black marks and gashes on granite slabs.
When granite is used as a bench top material in the kitchen it can sustain serious burn marks if hot pots are left on the surface and when used as a vanity top in the bathroom a curling iron that has been left on can have a similar effect.
